The prime purpose of all the Lantern County books, illustrations, games, songs, dances; is to help our ‘Little Acorn’ children get the greatest enjoyment from life on planet earth. I am quite certain that these ‘Happy Acorn stories’, are in accord with the teaching of Jesus Christ.
The ‘Growing up Process’ begins at birth, if not before. This is the time for Mum and Dad to think not only of giving their child love, but of giving it value, that develops into a sense of self worth.
The human race is in a state of continual growth, and the planet itself slowly moves mountains and entire continents. Then there is space exploration, where more suns than grains of sand on all the beaches of planet earth, must mean the universe is teeming with life.
Driven by the need for a more thinking and caring society, that has world wide appeal to the ordinary people, Lantern County Limited has published a series of books for the 0-5’s; and their parents. Other family members are asked to get involved. Every child needs to dream, and to help make these dreams come true, there is the magical partnership between the ‘Man in the Moon’ and Lord Grit. The Man in the moon sends happy dreams, and Lord Grit adds the courage
The Lantern Gallery is a series of wall paintings to welcome baby’s arrival, and introduces the residents of Lantern County. Within a very short time, the child will gaze at the pictures from their cot, and wonder what they are. These colourful characters provide a comforting presence, that excites curiosity, fires the child’s imagination, and starts the learning process in infant minds.
When the child is given the Vowels Owls poster and sorting game cards, there is an instant connection between child, the game, and the poster on their bedroom wall. This game helps hand eye coordination, and the pronunciation of the vowels, essential to learning the language. On the back of the cards, are three three letter words, which create an interest in reading, and reading opens the doors to life.
The three R’s dancers, are presented as a jump dance and song, with a script for the parents to describe the purpose. The toddlers will now understand that learning can be fun, which encourages them to look forward to going to school.
The Happy Acorn Club album, is a bumper book, and the characters in it come from the Lantern Gallery, a direct connection. As the stories are read to the child, the reader will refer to the Lantern Gallery. I was delighted to hear of grandparents and teenagers reading to eager toddlers. The stories will amuse and entertain the child up to five years and beyond.
Learning the human standards and ethical values is a big part of Webb’s Wonderful World, and other human pleasures are often introduced. There is classical music backing the Moon Dust and Grit animation, the three R’s dancers are being set to a short ballet dance, and Chef Grit cooks “good grub”. The stories are full of good and amusing idea’s, and the relationships between the characters are full of friendship, laughter and love.
Webb’s Wonderful World presents a relaxed and amusing way to begin learning the English language, and worldwide knowledge of English leads to better international understanding. The human values in the stories helps children of all nations to build a better world to live in. Lord Grit, knows children aged 0-5 need a sound basis for life on planet earth, “This is serious” says he.
